'Visionary leader' in Mequon receives Prevent Blindness Wisconsin's SEER award

Mequon — When a preschool girl doesn't pass her vision screening, many parents would simply look into why, see about getting glasses or contacts, and that'd be the end.
Instead, Kristin Severson, got involved with Prevent Blindness Wisconsin, eventually joining the board in 2013 and has now been given the 2016 SEER award for her efforts, which "recognizes a visionary leader who has been instrumental in directing Prevent Blindness Wisconsin toward the future," according to a news release.
Owner of The Lemon Tree in Mequon, 1515 W. Mequon Road, Severson serves on the Celebrity Waiters Dinner committee and as Secretary of the Prevent Blindness Wisconsin board of directors.
"We are deeply thankful to Kristin," said Charlie Groeschell, chair of the Prevent Blindness Wisconsin board. "As chair of our Celebrity Waiters Dinner, she immediately set the bar high and increased net dinner profits by more than 40 percent in just one year. Kristin's leadership means that more children have healthy vision for school success and more adults have healthy vision for a lifetime."
The award was presented at the Prevent Blindness Wisconsin annual board of directors meeting and reception June 21 at the Milwaukee County Club, 8000 N. Range Line Road
