2021 M-T Sunrise Rotary Sponsor-a-Family Holiday Program

Our club's annual holiday gift giving program is an opportunity for you to personally & positively influence the lives of four families in our community.

This year we are once again partnering with Family Promise.

They have identified 4 local families who are greatly in need of our assistance (click here for a brief synopsis of each family). We have been given personalized wish lists for all families. I have a link for you at the bottom of this email to visit where you can sign up to purchase a specific item(s). Sign up for as many as you would like! Please note all 4 families celebrate Christmas.

All donations can be dropped at the main entrance at Newcastle Place between now and December 17th. Simply pull up to the circle drive and drop off your gift to the receptionist at the front desk. She will take your gift and deliver it to our secure location inside. An even easier way is to bring your donations to one of our next couple Rotary meetings.

If you choose to order a gift on Amazon or from another online retailer, you may have it shipped directly to: 12600 N. Port Washington Rd. Mequon, WI 53092 Attn: Jennifer Sutherland

Additionally, we will collect new, regular sized personal toiletry items for the families along with holiday food items if you would like to contribute.

We are so grateful to you for blessing four Ozaukee County families with your generosity. This will help bring hope and joy to them this holiday season.

Happy Holidays,

Jennifer

Red Cross encouraging Wisconsinites to consider blood donations over the holidays

Conley Publishing Group

OZAUKEE COUNTY — In 2021, people in Wisconsin and across the country faced great emergency needs as the ongoing pandemic exacerbated the challenges related to severe disasters, blood shortages and global conflict

“Our most vulnerable neighbors are facing unique and pressing struggles when crisis strikes on top of COVID-19,” said Mark Thomas, regional CEO, American Red Cross of Wisconsin. “This holiday season, join us to provide help and hope in these difficult moments by making a financial donation or by giving blood or platelets.”

According to the Red Cross, in 2021, a family displaced by a disaster in the U.S. spent an average of nearly 30 days in a Red Cross-supported emergency shelter. These extended stays were largely due to a lack of savings and community housing shortages — signs that climate-driven disasters are compounding the financial hardships of the pandemic.

Rotary projects around the globe - United States

Editors Note: This is the fourth in a series of articles highlighting Rotary projects around the world.

When Judy Gross saw an online ad from someone seeking help with yardwork, members of her Rotary Club of Central Ocean Toms River, New Jersey, were ready to step up. In the ad, local resident Coreen Onnembo-DiLea explained that she was having a hard time keeping up with a garden that brings joy to her 99-year-old father, Achille “Acky” Onnembo, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran who served in the Allied invasion of Normandy in 1944. On a Saturday morning in April, six club members showed up with shovels, mulch, flowers, and stones. “Little did I know I’d hear from a team of superhumans that would handle the entire project,” Onnembo-DiLea wrote in a letter to the club.
