In Memory of Cory Zamora
Cory has been a champion fighter for his lifetime,
achieving success beyond the typical expectations
of individuals born with Down syndrome.
He was very proud of his success at multiple jobs, and rightly so.

Our heartfelt condolences.

Speaker Friday - Lance Parve

Our December 6th speaker will be our very own Lance Parve.  Lance is clearly one of the most interesting people you will ever meet.  He and his wife, Julie, are the creators of Hope Without Borders and have made it their life mission to improve the lives of people around the world.  Lance is also the past recipient of Rotary International's "Service Above Self" award ... one of only 150 given each year to the over 1,200,000 Rotarians in the world.  His day job, BTW, was designing the tunnels that are part of the huge Mitchell Field interchange.

Hope Without Borders has grown significantly in the last several years, but our mission remains the same—empowering people and transforming communities. We help the needy and vulnerable change their lives as they learn new skills, technologies, and capabilities. When someone learns a new skill, they teach someone else, and in the end, you have helped entire communities.

We are about community development, whether in America or abroad. Many in despair have "basic needs" such as clean water, safe sanitation, nutritious food, health-dental care, adequate shelter and education, which many of us take for granted. We empower, inspire, and resource individuals and communities in need, starting with their strengths, listening, learning, and working together on life-changing sustainable development initiatives.

Community development ideas flourish, but the landscape is littered with numerous failed agency, government, and organization projects that have devastatingly harmed the most needy. We believe that by working and serving together, we can change the lives of the needy worldwide, spreading hope one person and one community at a time.

Our Mission/Goals

To help developing communities interested in partnering work on projects to achieve sustainable community development. Effective partnering requires developing communities to be actively involved in all phases, including planning, project decision-making, innovative approaches, creative alternatives, appropriate technologies, mobilizing local-global resources-funding, implementation, and monitoring outcomes to integrate local Indigenous and breakthrough external technical-social-cultural solutions. Developing communities must supply a portion of the funding and/or labor in initiating, planning, designing, implementing, and monitoring projects to take ownership and ensure the continuation of program and project successes.

Annual holiday gift-giving program

Friday 12/13 is the last day to bring gifts for our Family Promise families.

Plan B is to donate to the drive using VENMO  @JenniferQuinnies
Using VENMO for Jennifer to buy gift cards will take you about 30 seconds!!

Our club's annual holiday gift-giving program is an opportunity for you to personally and positively influence the lives of two families in our community.

This year, we are once again partnering with Family Promise.
We will need some help after this Friday's Rotary meeting to wrap the gifts we've collected as a club for the families that we are supporting through Family Promise.

We could use the following (please bring on Friday):

* Wrapping paper & Gift bags of all sizes (I have tape and scissors)

* There are still a few gift items that haven't been chosen yet. Besides gift cards, we still need a Jurassic World Indominous Rex toy, Tonie Box Audio Player, Clothes for Vela 18 months size, Wednesday Adams item, and hunting stuff for dad, Justin. Please take another look at the wish list if you might be able to help! We are soooooo close!

* The two moms, Katie & Elizabeth, didn't ask for much. Perhaps you might even have some items at home that are new with tags on that they might enjoy? (warm winter socks, body wash/lotion, nail polish, assorted tea or hot cocoa, jewelry, etc.). Gift cards are definitely needed, but it is always fun to open something that they can use right away.

^^^^ Feel free to share this link with friends, co-workers, family, etc.

I can do the shopping for you if you don't want to! You can Venmo me @JenniferQuinnies
Just let me know the item(s) you want me to purchase and consider it done!

I look forward to seeing you all bright and early this Friday morning.
