Carol Wessels is an attorney and the founding partner of Wessels & Liebau LLC in Mequon. Her practice focuses on helping elders and people with disabilities, as well as their families. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1988. In High School, she was a participant in the World Affairs Seminar and an AFS student to Switzerland. Carol majored in French at the University of Whitewater.
In her profession, Carol has been recognized as the “Best Elder Law Attorney in Milwaukee”, and as a “Super Lawyer” for over ten years. She is a member of the national board of directors of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Her firm has repeatedly been chosen among the “Best Law Firms” in the field of Elder Law.
However, the greatest career development for Carol came when she was a caregiver for her mother (pictured with Carol) who had Alzheimer’s and experienced on a very personal level the challenges that people living with the disease face. As a result, she became a volunteer for, and is now a member of the Board of Directors, of the Alzheimer’s Association Wisconsin Chapter. Her passion is to advocate for laws and research funding designed to help people living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers and hopefully, to see an end to the disease in her lifetime.
Carol is married to her wonderful and patient husband Paul, who tolerates her passion for adopting older dogs. Together, they enjoy being outdoors, cycling, hiking, camping, traveling, cooking, and good wine.
