2011 Lobster Fest - September 24th

SERVICE ABOVE SELF … let’s grow that service!

Lobster Fest 2011 is being positioned do just that … to generate much greater community awareness of Rotary and  to raise much more money for Rotary’s local and international humanitarian and community service than ever before.

This year, for our 14th Annual Lobster Fest, M-T Sunrise Rotary invited neighboring Rotary Clubs - Milwaukee North Shore Rotary and T-M Noon Rotary – to partner with us and make this a record-breaking event.  Both Clubs said a resounding YES to the invitation!

Chairs for all the Working Teams needed to help prepare and implement Lobster Fest have been named, and our partner Clubs are recruiting members to ‘staff’ the Teams.

  • Leadership/Management Team: Dave Kliber, Connie Pukaite, Steve Peterman
  • Marketing/Public Relations Team: Jenn Rosenberg, chair
  • Sponsor Recruitment/Ticket Sales Team: Dick Kinney, Wally Sommer, co-chairs
  • Rotary Service Displays/Site Decorations: Sharon Pechiva, chair
  • Auction Team: Ronda Hughes, chair; Bob Blazich, Chris Frommel/Mentor
  • Site Design & Lay-out Team: Steve Peterman, Mark Hauschel
  • Onsite Operations Coordination Team: Co-chairs Terry Schacht, Alice Sedgwick
  • Guest Registration & Check-out Team: Mike Kim, chair;  Bob Blazich/Mentor
We need a few specialty volunteers – can you help?   We need people with special interest, experience or skill working in public relations, photography, with sound systems or credit-card/auction-bid tracking systems.  We’re considering possible professional vendors for the sound and auction-bid tracking systems, but need on-site folks to work with them.

There will be a Lobster Fest Kick-off gathering on Tuesday, May 24, 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. at Reuter Pavilion in Rotary Park.  The purpose will be to rally around our collective sense of mission and goals for the success of Lobster Fest, and get to know committee partners.  Committees may meet briefly to set schedules for action.  The gathering will also be a time for a little socializing and relationship-building.

What would you think of a $100,000 Goal? Just think about all the projects and causes our three Rotary Clubs will be able to support with those dollars.  We can do it  if everybody pitches in … here’s how:

  • Mark your calendar, be there: Saturday, September 24, 2011 @ Shully’s Café in Thiensville
  • Step up and volunteer to serve on one of the Working Teams
  • Identify one or two prospective Corporate Sponsors (big or small business) for the Sponsor Recruitment Team to approach
  • Help the Auction Team solicit quality items for Silent and Live auctions
  • Talk about all the service Rotary is involved in, locally and internationally … generate interest among friends and colleagues about Rotary’s purposes and mission
  • Plan to sell 5 tickets at $75.00 each:  If every member of all three Clubs does that, we’ll sell out all 600 seats available in no time!
