Another neat success for our Sunrise Rotary Club!
 
It was so nice having both Club and community volunteers with terrific help from the Park Guys. Icing on the cake to have so many people and dogs show up despite the bone-chilling winds.
 
Bob, thanks for the photos & for taking over the last shift to let me head home and rest aching legs.
 
Doreen, thank you for the posters & flyers ... but especially for talking with folks and promoting the work Rotary does in the Woods.
 
Dean - kudos for finding real cider ... there were people who actually commented and were impressed by it being real cider.

Member Spotlight - Dave Kliber

Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1951, Dave was raised in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan and graduated from Grosse Pointe (South) High School in 1969. As a boy, he enjoyed little league baseball for 6 years, was active in Boy Scouts, achieving Eagle Scout in 1964. Thanks to encouragement from his Mom (now 100 in Michigan) Dave learned to play guitar and played in a few bands playing and singing 60s and 70s rock, pop hits, easy listening music, mostly in Michigan but also some solo performances in Wisconsin in the 80s. 

SPORTS AND ACTIVITIES AND FAMILY

Dave also played lots of tennis, a sport that his Dad loved, and both played for their colleges. He also played power volleyball for Western Michigan University and Detroit Turners in the 70s. He has played golf since he took lessons when he was 8 and still enjoys the game. He and his wife Mandy do a lot of bicycling too, and raced sailboats in the 80s. He also owned a 20’ day sailboat in the 70s and 80s. He and Mandy met while snow skiing (another sport they loved) at Vail in 1987. He and Mandy are celebrating 34 years of marriage this year). She is a Nurse Practitioner with Advocate Aurora Healthcare, and also worked in pharmaceutical sales with Pfizer in the 90s.

Dave has lived in Milwaukee for 40 years, when he was promoted and moved from Schaumburg, IL where he ran operations as Assistant Manager of Woodfield for a year. Dave continued his career in Wisconsin and has lived in Mequon for 33 years. They have 2 children, Stephanie (30) living in Denver and Jason (28) in Brown Deer. Both are single so far.

Speaker - Jordan Luhr

Jordan Luhr

has over twenty years of experience in non-profit human services driven by a passion to serve. Most recently Jordan was Executive Director at a social services agency for older adults, helping them maintain dignity and self-respect through enrichment programs, case management, and day programming for those with dementia.

He also served as Vice President of Development and Public Relations at an agency providing youth with serious emotional, mental and behavioral health challenges, residential treatment, education, and outpatient services. Prior to committing to the non-profit sector, he had an extensive career in the corporate healthcare sector working in sales, marketing, and general management.

Jordan’s experience is complemented by a Bachelor’s degree from Marquette University, an MBA from the University of Maryland, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from North Park University. Jordan is married to Renee and has five children and five grandchildren.

Hemophilla

Bruce Carter will introduce MT Sunrise Rotary to the Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation on March 8, 2024.   Bruce has been involved with the Midwest and Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation since his 26 year old son was diagnosed with Severe Hemophilia B at 6 months.    Severe Hemophilia B impacts 4,500 patients in the United States and is one of the most expensive chronic diseases to treat.   Bruce will provide his family’s personal journey as it relates to the foundation.
