Stories behind the pictures

Dean started as a tear sheet messenger at the Milwaukee Journal in 1966, served a 5 year Photoengraving apprenticeship, headed the color laboratory in the photo department, and became photographer, specializing in illustration, fashion, food, advertising and portraiture. He accepted the responsibility to photograph heads of state, movie stars, sports heroes, and musicians. Actually, lots of people from many walks of life. Some of the photos were in focus.

Dean was a longtime resident of Thiensville and a friend to both the TM Noon and MT Sunrise Clubs. Dean is impressed with all of the projects that our clubs do both locally and internationally. When visiting MT as a guest of Brian M he has always felt very welcomed by warm friendly Rotarians. His way of giving back to both clubs has been to capture images of some of their events. Both clubs have used his images on their websites.

Dean has a great sense of humor and will have time to answer questions about some of the memorable individuals or events that he has photographed over his 40+ years at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
