On Wednesday August 20, 4:30 - ? we are enjoying a service project and social event. Please try and join us at River Barn pavilion as we prepare MRE’s (meals ready to eat) for the folks at Ozaukee Advocates. After the work is done, we will be holding a social complete with food and beverages. This will be a fun and unique event, so please plan to join us. We will be passing a list again on friday to get a count for cooks and for social attendees to plan ahead. Hope to see everyone there.
To reflect on Terry’s email from Tuesday, Lobsterfest, our main fundraiser, is approaching fast. We need all hands to work towards making this a successful event that will sustain our Grants & Donations account for the year. We have an immediate need for someone to stand up and be our ticket sales chairperson, let's get a volunteer before Friday so I don’t need to assign someone. It’s a very prestigious position and you get to work with Terry, how great is that? The perfect person is out there, is it you? Remember to ask yourself not what Lobsterfest can do for you, but what can YOU doe for Lobsterfest! We will look for more updates on Friday.
We will have a updated list for Thought of the Day/Greeter and Rotary Minute out on the web site very soon (it just alphabetically down the roster). Remember if your name comes up and you are unable to attend, please find someone to speak in your stead.
Have a great week everybody, we look forward to seeing you on Friday.

This has been a great growing season ... and the Redbud trees have exploded with new growth. The Redbuds need to be pruned and shaped.
I'm recruiting as many volunteers as possible for SATURDAY, AUGUST 23 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. starting in front of Mequon City Hall. BILL WANDSNIDER will show us how to prune.
Please reply and let us know (email: pukaite@sbcglobal.net) if you can help that day. We'll use hand clippers and/or loppers - if you have any, please bring them.
Mequon manufacturer makes political push
By Jeff Rumage
Mequon — A Mequon manufacturer is part of a political push advocating for the construction of roads and manufacturing training programs.
Telsmith, located at 10910 N. Industrial Drive, manufactures equipment that processes aggregate to produce material that is used to make asphalt and concrete. Their machinery is also used in the mining of minerals, such as gold. Telsmith is part of Astec Industries, which does about $1 billion in sales annually and employs 4,000 people.
Telsmith President Matt Haven said the company does about half of its business globally, so infrastructure is of great importance.
"We're a domestic company trying to work globally so the infrastructure in the U.S. is extremely important to us because we source globally," he said. "We bring raw materials in from all over the world so we have to get the materials here in the most cost-effective way possible so that we add value to it when we ship it back overseas."
Telsmith is a member of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, which is organizing a nationwide "I Make America" campaign advocating for pro-manufacturing policies.
