I would like to thank all those who were able to attend last week's meeting and participated in the round table discussion. There was allot of positive feedback about the discussion and good ideas as a result of it. The notes from the meeting will be posted on the web site once they are typed and a bit of housekeeping is completed in the documents section on club runner.
Thought of the Day: As this date will be forever etched in minds of several generations of Americans, not only for for the tragic losses endured, but for the overwhelming display of patriotism, compassion and unity that swept across our nation. People pulling together to help each other in a time of need. I hope we can all find a moment today to reflect and as Rotarians do, lend another helping hand to your neighbor or to someone in need as a tribute to the many lives changed on 9.11.01
THANK YOU to all those whom have volunteered countless hours and boundless energy into Lobsterfest, your efforts will soon cumulate into what will undoubtedly be a marvelous event for all this Saturday. Just consider all the lives that will be effected from your efforts. Thinking of it almost feels like a Rotary Minute. Thank you again...

Mequon may allow chickens on smaller lots
By Jeff Rumage
Mequon — Chickens may soon be strutting into Mequon neighborhoods, as the majority of Common Council members have expressed their support for an ordinance allowing four hens on lots of at least 1.5 acres.
Mequon first considered changing its chicken ordinance in June 2012, due to a resident having chickens on her property of less than 10 acres. Currently, chickens are only allowed on lots of 10 acres or more.
The ordinance before Mequon officials would allow residents to keep four hens on parcels no smaller than 1.5 acres. Initial restrictions prevent chicken owners from slaughtering their chickens outdoors, and requires chickens to be kept in a secure, clean enclosure that is no taller than 6 feet and no larger than 40 square feet. In a 6-2 vote, the Plan Commission on Monday night recommended the Common Council reject the ordinance.
On the following night, the Public Welfare Committee voted 2-1 in favor of the proposal, adding conditions that chicken owners pull a $200 permit, get permission from their adjoining neighbors and that roosters continue to be forbidden. If a chicken owner receives permission from a neighbor who moves out of that house, the chicken owner would not need to seek permission from the new homeowner.
The next vote came from Mequon's Committee-of-the-Whole, which consists of the same nine officials serving on the Common Council. The committee further amended the ordinance to require that coops be kept in the back yard, as well as closer to the chicken owner's house than neighboring houses.
Don't miss this opportunity to share ideas, discover creative answers to questions many other clubs just like yours are asking and catch up with old friends and meet new ones.
This year's Fall Seminar is featuring a special Membership Seminar, which we are highly recommending that one member from each club attend. There will be breakout sessions covering everything from the Rotary International Foundation (How you can get funding for your projects!!!) to Youth Exchange, Fundraising ... and all those other topics successful clubs gather to talk about and share ideas.
This is open to ALL Rotarians in District 6270. Club leadership and new members are HIGHLY encouraged to attend.
Save the morning of October 18, 2014 to help you increase your leadership skills, gain world understanding, make new friendships and find ways to make a real difference in your community. Preregistration is required and will close on October 15.
