THIS WEEKS MEETING - CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY
FRIENDS OF CONCORDIA ROOM

Visit our club website mtsunriserotary.org.

Well, it certainly has been a productive week!

Last Saturday we hosted the pancake breakfast for the Logemann Center 5k Run / Heritage Days. After our electrical engineering team sorted out the power demand and Errol provided the “secret sauce” for browning the cakes we were off. Chocolate chip seemed to be the crowd favorite. We had plenty of worker bees (literally), thank you to the all that attended. It really was a service project that felt more like a social event.

On Wednesday morning, Lucia, Cindy & I attended the Lumen Christi Employment Network meeting. We discovered a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and welcoming group that works hard and works together to move past their job transitions. It was an informative and interesting listening to each individuals progress and the support of their peers, albeit somewhat lengthy. I’m happy we have developed and association with this group and I encourage you to refer both employers and employees to them.

Wednesday evening was the M-T Chamber Awards dinner at Shully’s. The event was well attended and well represented by Rotary clubs. Some of our friend’s in attendance; Dave Jackson, whom was recognized as Citizen of the Year and Lee Szymborski, recognized with a  Distinguished Service Award, while glaze of Thiensville was selected as the Small Business of the Year. All well chosen recipients. It was good food and good fellowship, Thank you for all those who attended.

Upcoming Events:

October 9 - M-T Sunrise Satellite Club meeting - Social Mixer (location identified on the Clubs Facebook page)

October 16 - M-T Sunrise Satellite Club meeting - Devons Resturant 6PM

October 16 - Fall Into Comedy Night at Mequon River Club, 6pm - T-M Rotary Club fundraiser - Tickets available at http://www.tmrotary.org , While tickets are to be available at the door, I am told they may very well sell out in advance, so I would visit the web site and reserve your seats now.

The schedule for Greeter, Thought of the Day and Rotary minute is on the website. Go to My Club Runner and click on the "View Club Documents" , If you are scheduled for one of these duties and are unable to attend, please arrange for someone to complete it in your stead.  You will also find  new folders on thew web site with notes from Roundtable discussions and Avenues of Service goals.

This week’s at MTSR:

Oct 3- This week we will be meeting in the Friends of Concordia (FOC) Room

Were going to have some “special sauce” simmering this week at our meeting, so be sure to show up on time with your thinking caps on.

Next Week (Oct 10) - FOC Room | Greeter: Lucia F | Thought of the Day : Andy M | Rotary Minute : Lynn S | Rotary “Elevator Pitch” - chosen at random | Cindy S. will dazzle us with fact about herself and the investment in Rotary with her classification talk.

Have a great day and I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

Mequon, Thiensville plan for future together
By Jeff Rumage

Thiensville — Thiensville has always been a separate community within Mequon, but the two communities are starting to give more thought as to how their relationship is defined, especially with the joint Town Center effort about to come to fruition.

Elected officials from the two communities met for a special joint meeting at Shully's restaurant Tuesday night, Sept. 30, to discuss how the two communities can work together in the future while maintaining their distinct identities. The meeting came in anticipation of the Mequon Town Center development on Mequon and Cedarburg Roads — which is not only a major Mequon intersection, but also the gateway to Thiensville.

Town center talks

The upcoming Town Center development raised issues of traffic, community identity and how that identity will be reflected in the entryway sign across the street from the Town Center.

Several Thiensville board members said Thiensville's Main Street is already congested, which will be made worse when big name restaurants and retailers move into the Town Center. They specifically mentioned how difficult it can be to turn left out of the library parking lot.
