Moving Forward

“If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.”

The MT Sunrise Rotary Club participated in a Visioning session to starts the process of developing a strategic plan.  The Visioning session was a great success! Thanks to the individuals who facilitated the process and the members who attended.

20 members circulated through our multiple information posters providing fantastic input and direction for our club and our service activities.

Our task on the meetings of December 23 and 30 will be to analyze all the information and combining it with our survey results.  We will review our mission and our core values.  We will develop a draft of our Club’s vision and examine our current service projects against criteria that support our Mission, Core Values and Vision.

The strategic plan will provide the framework for our future, ensuring that we continue to be known as a respected, dynamic club whose members are positive people driven to serve and advance communities locally and worldwide.

The greeter will provide either the thought, a Rotary minute, share a family moment or a cultural tradition ... anything they would like to start off the day positive.

Upcoming "It's your Rotary moment" assignees:

  • David Schlageter (12/23)
  • Alice Sedgwick (12/30)

Note: If you are unable to to act as "It's your Rotary moment" assignee when scheduled please arrange for your replacement.

Fr. Michael Shay appointed Club Secretary

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Shay as the Secretary of the MT Sunrise Rotary Club.  Fr. Mike is a new member of the Club but he is an experienced Rotarian. He has been a member of Rotary International for over fifteen years and has held many leadership positions in Clubs located in California and Arizona.  As Secretary, Mike is the link between our club and the rest of the Rotary world.

To prepare for this position, Fr. Mike attended a webinar offered by our District 6270.  We welcome Fr. Mike to the club and to the Board. We look forwards to working together.

Mequon council lays path for Donges Bay Road bike lanes
By Dave Fidlin

A proposal to install bike and pedestrian lanes along one of Mequon’s major thoroughfares is moving forward, though the plans have been tweaked after undergoing intensive scrutiny.

The common council on Tuesday, Dec. 13, voted on a pared-down version of the lane installations along Donges Bay Road, between Wauwatosa and Cedarburg roads. The project is being rolled into the city’s capital improvement plan, possibly for 2017.

While aldermen offered widespread support for installing the lanes — many lauded it as a safety enhancement — there was lengthy debate on the sheer scope of the project, which is part of a broader road reconstruction effort.

The full, estimated cost of installing the bike and pedestrian lanes, as initially proposed, was $73,000. The figure will be less with the council’s recent motion at play.
