Member Spotlight - Fr. Mike Shay

In a stunning development, certainly attributed to Divine Providence, my original ambition to become an FBI agent fell by the wayside; my first job was as a dog census taker for the City of Wichita.

Following high school, I was bookkeeper/accountant ten years, and became the first and only male student at an all-girls’ college (Manitowoc), from which I graduated.  Taught public and private high school, took an interest in Theology, and was ordained a Catholic priest in 1973.  Lived and worked in seven states; visited all others except three; and six countries on three continents.

Hobbies include ham radio, computers, and as a fully qualified square dance caller, for eight years in three states.  Now, Rotary is my hobby of seventeen years.  Was Centennial President in 2004-05, and ROY in 2006 and 2011.  Am a Paul Harris Fellow, and a member of the Paul Harris Bequest Society, hoping to convince many others to become so as well!

Thank you for the privilege of belonging to a club with so many first-class, generous human beings!
