Homestead High School students are ready to throw it back to the '90s as part of their weeklong homecoming activities from Oct. 2-7.

The activities begin Monday, Oct. 2, with the kickoff of homecoming dance ticket sales; they conclude with a "Party Like It's 1999" homecoming dance Saturday, Oct. 7.

The first day for spirit wear is Tuesday, Oct. 3, with the theme of Denim Day. Students are encouraged to wear "Back to the '90's"-style jackets and jeans.

Wednesday, Oct. 4, is Jersey Day, and students can wear a Homestead, college or pro team's jersey. Wednesday is also the day for the powder puff game, at 7 p.m. on the athletic field. The cost is $3; all proceeds go to the Highlanders Together campaign.

Thursday, Oct. 5, is Class Dress-Up Day, when students can wear homecoming, black or neon T-shirts.

Friday, Oct. 6, is when a lot of the fun will happen. The theme of the day is School Spirit Dress Up Day, which encourages students to wear red and white or a Highlanders Together T-shirt. A pep rally will be held from 1:30 to 2:37 p.m., followed by a parade at 4:30 p.m. The parade steps off from the Walgreens, 278 N. Main St., Thiensville, then moves south on Cedarburg Road to Division Road. Those participating in the parade should meet at Walgreens at 4 p.m.

Capping the night will be Homestead's football game against Hartford at 7 p.m. The homecoming court will be introduced at halftime.

The homecoming dance is from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, in the Homestead field house. Students in grades nine through 11 should wear semi-formal attire, and seniors may wear school-appropriate theme attire and costumes. To be admitted, students must arrive prior to 9 p.m. The event is not locked in, so students may leave before 11, but they may not re-enter once they leave.

Tickets will be sold during lunches, starting at $5 on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 2 and 3. The prices will increase to $10 on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 4 and 5, and then to $15 on Friday, Oct. 6. No tickets will be sold at the door.
