OZAUKEE COUNTY — The county will hold a Clean Sweep event this year, providing county residents the means to safely dispose of hazardous waste.

The event will be held Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10. Residents, agricultural producers and some businesses will be able to drop off hazardous waste at the Ozaukee County Highway Department, 410 S. Spring St. in Port Washington. 

Hazardous waste drop-off requires preregistration and a $20 per-vehicle fee. The fee must be paid with registration.

 

The times when drop-off will occur are:

Friday, June 9, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Agricultural producers and “very small quantity generators,” such as small businesses. VSQGs must preregister with Veolia, according to information from the Ozaukee County Land and Water Management Department. The fee for VSQG drop-off will be calculated by Veolia.

Saturday, June 10, 8 a.m. to noon. Ozaukee County residents dropping off of household hazardous wastes.

Preregistration must occur with the Land and Water Management Department by June 2. Participation is limited, and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. A registration receipt will be mailed, and must be brought to the Clean Sweep for admission to the collection site.

During the Clean Sweep event, the county will also take used tires for recycling. Tire drop-off does not require preregistration, but there will be a fee paid at drop-off.
